About the Role

As the Risk Associate, reporting to the Director of Risk, you will play a key role in understanding and managing risks surrounding the platforms, participants, and transactions that Zero Hash works with every day, and in ensuring that strong risk controls are in place and operating effectively.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work tightly with cross-functional teams to analyze risks, to evaluate internal controls, support internal audit activitiesto conduct internal audits, and to understand current business operations and future developments
  • Support the Internal Audit function by performing control assessments, spot checks, and remediation activities
  • Monitor for and assess risks presented by patterns and evolving risk trends, such as transaction flows, parties, services, or market structures that present aggregated risk
  • Evaluate and document internal controls and required mitigations, ensuring that risks remain well-controlled and holding the organization accountable to applicable risk mitigations
  • Understand and process information received by risk and audit teams
  • Participate in reviews of data and reports provided to external parties and stakeholders
  • Assist in the identification of risks to be managed
  • Conduct audits and reviews of company activities to ensure that regulations, rules, and policies are being followed
  • Conduct risk assessments of internal and external vendors, jurisdictions, regulations, competitors, services, and a variety of other topics
  • Develop and advise on risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with various departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in risk, audit, or a closely related field
  • Ability to conceptualize abstract concepts and communicate effectively to a diverse audience
  • Demonstrated ability to see through the data to identify trends and patterns
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Anti-money laundering, financial crimes, and money transmission
    • Financial risk management
    • Cryptocurrency settlement, custody, and markets
    • Data security and privacy
    • Fintech Product go to market process
  • Dependable and diligent, with solid follow-through
  • Self-directed, driven, with a burning desire to dig deeper and learn more
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • English language proficiency
  • Willingness to work North American hours

Preferred

  • Previous fintech or startup experience
