A part of the public safety department responsible to ensure and maintain asecure campus environment; provide protection and security of persons,facilities, and property; patrol campus buildings and adjacent areas; conductsurveillance of assigned areas; determine the extent of violations and takeappropriate action; take steps to remedy or control emergency situations;prepare and review a variety of information-gathering forms and reports;provide direction and general information to the public; and perform relatedwork as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year offull-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in law enforcement, in agovernmental police force or in work involving the protection or security ofbuildings, equipment or people as the major duty, or (B) any equivalentcombination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions: I. AnAssociate's or higher degree with a major in police science, law enforcement orcriminal justice may be substituted for the required experience.**Education toward such a degree will be prorated onthe basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Salary Range: AFSCME Unit II, Grade 13 Step 1 $46,888.66annually. Appointments from outside the bargaining unit begin atStep 1 of the range.
