Strategic Operations Manager Location Louisville, KY (Southside area) : BAE Systems is hiring a Strategic Operations Manager to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business in Louisville, KY. The Strategic Operations Manager will manage assigned production value streams with direct and indirect supervision of employees, across all operating shifts and assigned supporting functions. The Strategic Operations Manager will drive the long-range strategic planning process for their assigned operations by overseeing and managing aspects of engineering, manufacturing, production control, and supply chain management. The Manager defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of engineering, manufacturing, program management, and supply chain. Develops operations-related plans, budgets, policies, and procedures. Maintains Safety, Health, Environmental compliance relating to the production facility and their assigned area. Responsible for the performance of their value streams along with setting short- and long-term priorities for their teams. Champion the continuous improvement effort for their value stream focusing on reducing cycle and lead times for their processes. Responsibilities:
Accountable to SQDCP performance to achieve company KPI targets for each production value stream within their assigned area.
Coordinate daily, and as needed, with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure that they are aware of upcoming changes or needs in production schedules.
Coordinate with external stakeholders such as vendors and government agencies when necessary.
Effectively communicate with management (and/or customers) through development of briefing packages, EACs, and technical proposals, that reflect the current and future state of production for each program within their area.
Develop and implement staffing and training plans for direct and indirect labor to maximize personnel safety, quality, efficiency, utilization, and productivity.
Develop a one team mindset and mentors and develops employees to help develop a high-performance organization and a capacity for future leaders.
Support compilation of labor forecasts for both Estimates to Completion (ETC) and Estimates at Completion (EACs) for the support and touch employees involved within their defined area.
Develop standard operating procedures for all activities within the value stream to establish repeatable processes.
Monitor inventory levels to proactively ensure there are no disruptions to product flow (supports both direct and indirect material).
Develop and reviews reports detailing product status, direct labor utilization, efficiency, scrap, rework, and defect data.
Participate in the development and execution of plans to address unfavorable trends or variances.
Lead and develop the capital review and budget process for their assigned areas.
Ensure products and services are delivered on time and within cost in accordance with contract terms and conditions, while also meeting performance requirements.
Support the implementation of new systems, procedures, work instructions, and special projects supporting manufacturing and customer service objectives.
Champion continuous improvement for value streams focusing on reducing cycle and lead times for their processes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or related and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Program/Operations Management
Experience in Large-Scale Manufacturing/Production: Product Assembly, Machining, Welding, and/or Fabrication
Experience in People Management/Leadership: Managing both Exempt and Non-Exempt employees
Experience in Cross-functional Leadership: Manufacturing Management, Production Control, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Excellence, and Quality
Experience in Driving Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing into processes
Experience in Oracle or similar ERP systems
Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities and assignments
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teaming skills with the ability to effectively influence cross functional teams
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills
Strong computer application skills with extensive focus on Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Graduate Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing related discipline
Experience in Defense (DoD)/Government Contracting environments
Experience in Managing a Union environment
Experience with the deployment and implantation of Lean Manufacturing concepts
Experience in Production Planning and Control within Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Experience in Earned Value management (EVM) and Performance Management through KPIs and Metrics
Experience in Manufacturing and Quality Engineering practices and instructions
Strong knowledge of product launch processes with focus on Design for Manufacturing concepts
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
