We are seeking a talented and resourceful Software Development Engineer (SDE-II) to join our Selection & Catalog Systems team. In this role, you will leverage generative AI technologies to detect and measure product data defects at scale.

While building this platform, you will have the opportunity to learn the entire suite of Amazon catalog systems and services (ingestion, enrichment, validation, reconciliation, matching, storage,...) as well as the customer facing systems (search, product detail page, checkout page...) that consume and display catalog data. You'll also gain exposure to application of Gen-AI technologies, including large language models for image and text generation for catalog enrichment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of e-commerce systems and emerging AI technologies, allowing you to shape how we leverage Gen-AI to improve catalog quality, experiment with AI-generated content, and enhance overall customer experience.

The ideal candidate will have distributed systems, high-scale software service design and implementation, and agile/continuous software delivery experience. You are a Software Development Engineer who enjoys owning software services, is customer-centric, and values delivering software with high quality.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement specific features and components for the experimentation platform.
- Build and maintain measurement systems and metrics collection frameworks.
- Write scalable, efficient code to support the platform's growing user base, focusing on specific components or services.
- Develop new capabilities that enable users to effectively evaluate and optimize AI-generated content, ensuring we deliver the best value to our customers
- Work with product managers and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, share knowledge with junior engineers, and contribute to team's technical discussions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
