Job Description

Must have gas operations experience in the utilities industry.

Manages and oversee operations for the SNELSON business unit. Supports current business relationships and business development opportunities within the area. Supports a “safety first” culture and creates the expectation of constant improvement.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full and final responsibility for the assigned gas operations.
  • Manages day-to-day operations throughout the assigned area, suggests, directs, or initiates operational changes and adjustments as required to meet obligations.
  • Creates an environment of open and effective communications across the operational area.
  • Assures there is a mutual understanding of goals and expectations within all levels of the organization.
  • Responsible for supporting employee development initiatives. Facilitates an environment that rewards mentoring and creates opportunities for employee advancement.
  • Facilitates a productive working relationship between the Training/OQ Department and the assigned regional operations. Creates an environment that builds a better workforce, meets staffing demands & meets customer expectations regarding employee qualification.
  • Oversees the regional Quality Assurance department. Confirms workmanship expectations, customer standards, industry standards and SNELSON standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Monitors regional profitability. Takes corrective action & exerts influence where necessary to assure the Region meets budgetary & financial expectations. 
  • Develops and maintains mutually beneficial & productive long-term relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Makes employee health & safety the number one priority. Supports a working relationship between the Safety Department, Regional Operations & the QA Department that achieves excellent safety performance and constant improvement.
  • Monitors internal labor & equipment resource usage and works with each operating area to optimize efficiency.
  • Supports SNELSON business development efforts and facilitates healthy & sustainable business growth.
  • Constantly evaluates job costs and return on capital investment. Suggests & implements opportunities for increased productivity, cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Supports a working relationship between the Estimating Department & Regional Operations groups that achieves high quality bid submittals and the award of profitable and/or strategically important contracts.
  • Addresses labor related issues and participates in labor negotiations as required.
  • Participates in industry groups, councils and committees as required. Supports & protects the interests of the company and the utility construction industry.
  • Communicate and cooperate with all Support Service divisions (Safety, HR, IT & Accounting). Facilitate a productive working relationship with all groups that efficiently improves the field operation and improves SNELSON performance for the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other related discipline.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-10 years of tangible gas industry experience.
  • Must demonstrate leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Must have experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be proficient in the English language, with Spanish as an asset.
  • Expert proficiency in understanding, interpreting, and effectively using data from financial statements and operational reports.
  • Expert proficiency in presenting to leadership, clients, and employees in various settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong technical acumen in use of computers, standard software applications and other programs to support the general expectations of the position.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Salary range is between 191K - $319K with generous bonus incentive.
  • Medical, Dental and Vision plan.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Extended walking, subject to heat and cold environments on job sites.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Usual and customary indoor office environment with heating and cooling accommodations.
  • Frequent travel throughout operations area for job site visits and meetings with customers.

 

OTHER CONDITIONS:

  • Adhere to all company policies, rules and regulations as stated in the Company Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Infrequent weekend work.
  • Must always present a professional image, representing self and company in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees, and the public.
