JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Molecular studies and human sample handling Responsible for conducting experiments and research projects in varied areas of molecular biology specifically DNA/RNA/protein extraction, PCR and basic molecular techniques. Ability to search and review the scientific literature for the purpose of developing SOP's. Responsible for specimen tracking and data entry into existing databases.

Immunohistochemical staining: Responsible for manual and automated immunohistochemical staining of human and mouse tissue samples including validation of antibodies.

Record keeping and data collection Maintains accurate, detailed records and experimental data and protocols. Able to work with database, graphing and word processing computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word and Prism. Works with EHR systems such as EPIC and BIMS in order to facilitate acquisition of tissue samples for translational research projects and tissue banking purposes

Laboratory safety/lab equipment maintenance Maintains lab functions to include ordering of supplies and ensures lab equipment is maintained in good operating order. Handles, stores, and disposes of chemically hazardous materials, and biohazardous materials in procedure specified to meet MDA safety guidelines Work as a member of a team and assist coworkers in the execution of their research projects

Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences. No experience.
