Position Title: Police Officer
The Wyoming Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer. Candidates who are not currently full-time police officers must take the FrontLine National exam and complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) through the National Testing Network by August 23, 2024.
Salary Information (2024):
Hire Rate (Not Certified): $58,944.30
Hire Rate (Certified): $73,407.10
2 Years of Service: $79,147.21
4 Years of Service: $83,575.91
5 Years of Service: $83,673.05
6+ Years of Service: $85,439.24
Note: This is the final year of the current contract. A new contract will begin in January 2025.
Starting salary is commensurate with full-time experience and qualifications.

Department Overview:
The Wyoming Police Department is a community-oriented police agency focused on community involvement and compassionate service. The department employs 19 full-time sworn officers, including the Chief of Police, Assistant Chief, and Detective, along with 3 full-time clerks. Each of the four shifts is staffed by 3 officers under the supervision of a Sergeant/Shift Supervisor. Officers may also take on collateral duties, such as roles in multi-jurisdictional SWAT, Dive, and Honor Guard Teams. The department offers exceptional training and growth opportunities, including access to an indoor firing range with provided ammunition and one hour of overtime for training each month. The compensation package is one of the highest in the area.

Education: High School Graduate or GED
Driver's License: Valid Ohio Driver's License
Language: Ability to read and speak English
Vision: Visual acuity correctable to 20/20 and no color deficiencies that would impair job performance or pose a safety risk
College: Preferred but not required
Academy Certification: OPOTA Certification or current enrollment in an OPOTA certification program
Prior Experience: OPOTA certified academy
Necessary Certifications: Must achieve and maintain OPOTA certification

Disciplinary Action: Applicants with disciplinary actions resulting in suspension or loss of pay within the past 5 years will not be considered.
Felony Convictions: No felony convictions allowed.
Misdemeanor Convictions: No convictions for theft, dishonesty, violence, or crimes related to job performance in the last five years. No pattern of criminal behavior.
Domestic Violence: No convictions for domestic violence or related reduced charges.
Weapon Offenses: No convictions related to the carry or use of a weapon.
Sexual Offenses: No convictions for sex-related crimes. Additional disqualifiers may be determined by the Chief of Police or designee.
