News Reporter Charlotte County

Job Description:

WINK-TV-Southwest Florida’s News Leader is seeking a talented and driven news reporter to report in Charlotte County, Florida. The ideal candidate will be passionate about journalism, able to work with a photographer independently and have a strong desire to produce high-quality, accurate, and engaging news content.

Responsibilities:

- Research and report on news stories in Charlotte County, Florida

- Conduct interviews with community leaders, government officials, and local residents

- Write and edit news articles for print and online publications

- Develop sources and maintain relationships with contacts in the community

- Attend events and press conferences to gather information and report on news stories

- Stay up-to-date on local and national news and trends

- Collaborate with colleagues and editors to develop story ideas and angles

- Use social media and other digital platforms to engage with audiences and promote content

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field

- 2+ years of experience as a news reporter, preferably covering local news

- Strong shooting, writing, editing and presentation skills

- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Knowledge of AP style and journalistic ethics

- Comfortable using digital tools and platforms, including social media and content management systems

- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
