Job Title – Network Engineer, Junior - Cloud 

Job Summary - The Network Engineer, Junior Cloud is responsible for developing and deploying network systems and cloud architecture solutions that meet organizational requirements for performance, security, and compliance. This entry-level position involves supporting the design and implementation of cloud services, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and standards. The Network Engineer I will conduct feasibility studies, monitor and maintain network systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions in a collaborative team environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement network designs that align with organizational requirements for cloud services. 

• Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. 

• Assist in defining technical requirements for cloud service offerings and ensure alignment with NIH and government objectives. 

• Collaborate with federal staff to provide strategic guidance and documentation for cloud architecture, data management, and integration support. 

• Troubleshoot network issues, develop solutions, and maintain documentation for processes and procedures. 

• Stay informed of the latest technologies in networking hardware, software, and best practices. 

• Support the development and implementation of automated self-service portals and cloud modules. 

• Participate in assessments of cloud technologies, applications, and infrastructure to provide targeted recommendations. 

• Collaborate on strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives related to cloud services. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 

• 0-2 years of related experience in network engineering or cloud services. 

• Familiarity with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their networking capabilities is preferred. 

• Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and cloud security practices. 

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. 

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

• Vendor-specific certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Cisco) are a plus. 

Compensation and Benefits 

The projected compensation range for this position is $76,000to $95,300 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $83,300. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
