The Tailwind Group Summer Intern Program allows students or recent grads to gain real world experience in their area of interest and understand its function within the student housing industry - all while making a true impact on our business.

This part-time internship term will run from May 26th - August 15th, working 20 hours a week on average. Our program includes:

The Position: The Human Resources Intern is primarily responsible for supporting the HR Team with administrative, recruiting, and employee engagement activities, all while learning the ins-and-outs of the department’s daily routines and procedures. A successful HR Intern will focus on providing administrative support, conducting research and reviews, and providing excellent support to our internal teams.

This is an in-office position working out of our Mankato, MN, corporate office. The pay rate for this position is $15/hr.

Responsibilities & Duties


  • Model and cascade Tailwind Group’s five core values: Entrepreneurial, Versatile, Responsive, Innovative, and Integrity.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service during each encounter with residents, prospects, vendors, officials, and community members.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Support the team in completing periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required information is accurate.
  • Support the HR Manager by researching HR-related systems and packages and comparing to current selections.
  • Research labor-laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all operating locations.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as maintaining the employee database and shared HR Department folders.
  • Post jobs, review resumes, and conduct initial phone screenings with candidates.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of on-site interviews with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
  • Aid in the high-volume onboarding of temporary summer employees.
  • Act as a member of the Employee Engagement Committee and assist in planning company events and appreciation days.
  • Research and develop an early-career recruiting strategy to attract and retain top talent and present findings to leadership.
  • Shadow multiple positions on the team and train in a variety of HR-related tasks.

Requirements


  • High School diploma or equivalent and working towards a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Must be a rising junior, senior, or a recent graduate at time of internship.

  • Possess strong administrative, organization, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism in dealing with confidential information.
  • Be a self-motivated individual and excel at working in a team environment.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and share new ideas.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
