We are working with a rapidly growing and diversified agricultural company in Northeast Kansas that is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their leadership team. This is a newly created position within the company, offering a unique opportunity to help shape the financial strategy, install key processes and procedures, and support the company's continued growth.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or finance, particularly within the grain industry, and will possess hands-on experience in financial planning, risk management, and overseeing small accounting teams. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can work closely with executive leadership to drive strategic financial initiatives, from budgeting and M&A activity to process improvement and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the financial operations of the company, including overseeing a small accounting team consisting of an accounts receivable clerk, an accounts payable clerk, an office manager, and a payroll specialist.
* Develop and implement financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
* Provide strategic insights to management on financial performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Spearhead the installation of financial processes and procedures that align with industry best practices and company goals.
* Manage risk through sound financial strategies, including ensuring adequate insurance coverage and hedging strategies in the grain market.
* Support mergers and acquisitions, including financial due diligence and integration planning.
* Analyze financial data and create reports for executive leadership and stakeholders.
* Monitor cash flow, capital investments, and debt management to ensure a strong financial position.
* Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* At least 5-7 years of experience in a finance leadership role, with at least some experience in the grain industry or agricultural finance.
* Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and financial modeling.
* Experience leading or overseeing a small accounting team and managing day-to-day financial operations.
* Ability to work independently, think strategically, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
* Experience with mergers and acquisitions, as well as managing financial due diligence processes, is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
* Competitive salary around $150,000, commensurate with experience.
