Where You Will Work     

 

Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors. 

Description

Under general supervision, assists with variety of HR related projects based on site location.

  • Assist with various organizational and data management tasks, including refining job profiles, updating internal databases, and improving documentation systems.
  • Support the cleanup and optimization of organizational structures, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across platforms.
  • Collaborate on enhancing internal resources, contributing to the maintenance and development of tools like SharePoint and position lists.
  • Provide general assistance in auditing, data entry, and project coordination to streamline operations and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Work with the HR administration team on various projects
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Human Resources or Business discipline or closely related field; OR
  • Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Human Resources, Business or closely related field.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Possesses strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure 
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity.

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/ alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable state laws.

Compensation:

 

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.00-$24.50/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
